Not-Doings - The Immersion of Personal Power

  • Coskewis Helston, England, TR13 0AU United Kingdom (map)

Reorganising Awareness & Integrating the Autonomy of the Energy Body

In Toltec teachings, the Second Ring of Power is reached when attention begins to loosen from the fixed description of the world learned through social conditioning. At this stage, awareness shifts from reacting automatically to choosing where attention is placed.

Practices of the Second Ring of Power develop sobriety, clarity, and energetic discipline. The warrior learns to interrupt habits, reclaim scattered energy, and act from intent rather than emotional impulse. This ring is not about belief or knowledge, but about sustained practice and the responsible use of attention.

Not-doings are practices used to interrupt the routines that keep awareness locked into familiar patterns. By deliberately changing ordinary actions, perceptions, or responses, the warrior weakens the dominance of habitual behaviour and opens space for new awareness to emerge.

On the Toltec path, not-doings are simple but demanding. They challenge comfort, certainty, and the need to explain. Through consistent not-doing, attention becomes more fluid, perception widens, and the practitioner regains a sense of autonomy — no longer governed solely by habit, emotion, or social expectation.
